Richmond Raceway’s 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial Rescheduled for Saturday September 17

 

Richmond, KY(August 21, 2016) Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are pleased to announce the make-up date for the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial at the 3/10 mile red clay oval known as “The Beast of the East” that was postponed due to heavy rain.  The event will now take place on Saturday September 17.

A total of 82 had signed in for racing action prior to heavy rains falling about fifteen minutes prior to the drivers meeting on Saturday around 5:30 p.m.  For those race fans and race teams that have tickets and pit pass armbands that were purchased on August 20, individuals will need to retain those and present them at the track on the Saturday September 17 reschedule date, as this will be your raincheck for readmission to the track on September 17.  The make-up date is the only time that these tickets and pit passes can be used.

The rescheduled date for the event will now be on Saturday September 17 and the Super Late Model portion of the program will be sanctioned by the Ray Cook-promoted Southern Nationals Bonus Series and will see the Super Late Models racing 59 laps for a $10,059 to win payday.  Also on the rescheduled “Butterball” racing program on Saturday September 17 will be the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds racing for $1,259 to win, the American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,059 to win, and Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders racing for $759 to win. 

The track will host an open practice session on Friday September 16 for all divisions.  Ticket prices in the general admission area for practice is free and a pit pass will be $20 for the practice.  Times for the open practice will be from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and gates will open at 5:00 p.m.  

Richmond Raceway will present the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge event on Saturday September 17 and will feature the Southern Nationals Bonus Series Super Late Models racing for $10,059 to win in their main event in a full program that will include practice, FK Rod Ends time trials, qualifying heats, and B-Mains.  Also on the “Butterball” racing program will be the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds racing for $1,259 to win in a 25 lap main event, American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,059 to win in a 20 lap feature, and Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders racing for $759 to win.  For the “Butterball” Memorial on Saturday September 17, the Southern Nationals Bonus Series will have separate practice and time trial sessions, while the Modified, KDRA Super Stocks, and Stock Four Cylinders will utilize the practice/time trials combo format to determine heat race starting positions.  RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and must be used by the driver each time he/she is on the racing surface in their race car.  Also, transponder scoring/timing is used at Richmond Raceway and the rental for a transponder is $10 and can be taken care of at driver registration (the track uses the yellow Westhold transponders).  It is pertinent that all drivers be at the track and signed in by 5:30 p.m. as that is when driver registration closes.

Also of note, the track will offer bonuses for the three highest finishing drivers that utilize a Crate engine powered car will be eligible for bonuses.  The highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $100 bonus, second highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $75 bonus, and the third highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $50 bonus, while the series will offer a $200 bonus for the highest finishing competitor using a Steel Head/SPEC engine and a $200 bonus for the highest finishing competitor utilizing a CT525 powerplant.  The Super Late Model division will have an entry fee for this event and it will be $100, while the tire rule for Super Late Models for this event on all four corners of the race cars will be as follows:  Hoosier 1300, 1350, and 1600 or American Racer 44, 48, and 56.  Tire samples can and/or will be taken by the track and/or series at any time during the course of the event.  The American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks will have a $20 entry fee for series members and non-members and includes transponder rental.

In addition, race fans and businesses have sponsored laps for the Super Late Model portion of the event that totals to $1,650 in extra prize money.  Also, Turner Realty Group will provide the winner an additional $100 if the winner makes a last lap pass for the win.  If one driver leads all 59 laps of the event, the event win would be worth $11,709.

Activities for the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event at Richmond Raceway on Saturday September 17 will see the pit area open at 2:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 3:30 p.m.  Driver’s registration will close promptly at 5:30 p.m.  The drivers meeting will be at 5:45 p.m, with practice/time trial combo laps set to begin around 6:15 p.m., and the green flag for the first race will wave at 7:30 p.m.  Ticket prices for the “Butterball” Memorial on Saturday September 17 in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE.  For the pit area, adult prices will be $45, with children ages 6 to 12 costing $15, and children ages five and under FREE.
