Richmond Raceway’s 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial Saturday October 8 -Finn Watson Memorial Late Model Feature to Also Be Contested

 

Richmond, KY(October 2, 2016) The 2016 season finale for Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz will be a busy one as the track will present the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial at the 3/10 mile red clay oval known as “The Beast of the East” on Saturday October 8.  The Finn Watson Memorial event that was rained out on October 1 will also be contested as part of the racing program. 

Of note, the Finn Watson Memorial Sonic Late Model make-up feature will take place after practice and time trials for the “Butterball” event have concluded prior to “Butterball” preliminary events, with the winner of that event guaranteed a starting spot in the “Butterball” later in the evening.  The make-up features for the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds and AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks will take place at the conclusion of the “Butterball” support division feature events.  These feature events are set and no other cars will be allowed to participate in the make-up features.

The Late Model portion of the event will feature the 59 lap, $10,059 to win/$500 to start “Butterball” A-Main that also features lap leader money and other various incentives, as several individuals and businesses have sponsored laps and if one driver were to lead all 59 laps, that driver would earn an additional $1,325, making it possible for one driver to win $11,384.  Turner Realty Group will pay an additional $100 if there is a pass made for the win on the final lap and longtime track supporter Bob Wolter, Sr. will award the top qualifier $100.  Also, there will be NO entry fee for Late Model competitors at the event.

Support division action for the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event at Richmond Raceway on Saturday October 8 will feature the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds racing for $1,259 to win, the American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,059 to win, and the Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders racing for $759 to win.     

Also, those race fans and race teams that have tickets and pit pass armbands that were purchased at the August 20 and/or September 17 rainouts of the event, individuals will need to present those at the track on the Saturday October 8, as this will be your raincheck for readmission to the track.  Individuals must have their ticket or pit pass from August 20 and/or September 17 or they will have to pay again.  Furthermore, all gate time openings will be TWO hours earlier and all race activities will start ONE hour earlier.

Richmond Raceway will present the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial on Saturday September 17 and the Sonic Late Models will be featured in a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 59 lap, $10,059 to win/$500 to start “Butterball” A-Main.  Also on the “Butterball” racing program on Saturday October 8 will be the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds racing for $1,259 to win, the American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,059 to win, and Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders racing for $759 to win.  The Modified, KDRA Super Stock, and Stock Four Cylinder will utilize the practice/time trial format to determine heat race starting positions, while the Late Models will have separate practice and time trial sessions.  RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and must be used by the driver each time he/she is on the racing surface in their race car.  Also, transponder scoring/timing is used at Richmond Raceway and the rental fee for a transponder is $10 and can be taken care of at driver registration (the track uses the yellow Westhold transponders).  It is pertinent that all drivers be at the track and signed in by 4:30 p.m. as that is when driver registration closes.

In addition, the track will offer bonuses for the three highest finishing drivers that utilize a Crate engine powered car will be eligible for bonuses.  The highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $100 bonus, second highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $75 bonus, and the third highest finishing driver using a Crate engine will receive a $50 bonus.  The Late Model division will have NO entry fee for this event, while the tire rule for Late Models for this event will be the track tire rule and it is as follows:  Front Tires (Open and Crate Engines)- Open Compound/Manufacturer; Rear Tires (Open Engines)- Hoosier 1300, 1350, 1600, LM20, LM40 or American Racer 44, 48, 56; Rear Tires (Crate Engines)- Hoosier FT200, FT400, LSB21, LSB55, Crate 21, Crate 55, 1300, 1350, 1600, LM20, LM40, 1640, Spec D55 or American Racer Crate Spec 48, Crate Spec 56, 44, 48, 56.  Tire samples WILL be taken by the track at any time during the course of the event and any driver who has tire samples taken, prize money will be held until tire samples clear the lab.  The American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks will have a $20 entry fee for series members and non-members and includes transponder rental.  There is no entry fee for the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds or Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders.

Activities for the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event at Richmond Raceway on Saturday October 8 will see EARLIER START TIMES, with the pit area open at 1:00 p.m. and the general admission area open at 2:30 p.m.  Driver’s registration will close at 4:30 p.m.  The drivers meeting will be at 4:45 p.m, with practice/time trial combo laps set to begin around 5:15 p.m., and the green flag for the first race will wave at 6:30 p.m.  All times are EDT.  Ticket prices for the “Butterball” Memorial on Saturday October 8 in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE.  For the pit area, adult prices will be $45, with children ages 6 to 12 costing $15, and children ages five and under FREE.
