Richmond Raceway Announces Saturday Night Showdown Make-Up Dates

 

Richmond, KY(May 1, 2016) Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz have set the make-up dates for the Saturday Night Showdown event that was postponed due to inclement weather on April 30 at the 3/10 mile semi-banked red clay oval better known as “The Beast of the East” located just minutes from downtown Richmond, KY.

The Four Cylinder portion of the Saturday Night Showdown event will now take place as part of the Kid’s Night racing program on Saturday May 21 and the Four Cylinder division will be competing for $750 to win that night, along with a full racing program for Late Models, Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds, AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks, and Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

The American Dirt Allstars sanctioned KDRA Super Stock portion of the Saturday Night Showdown will now take place on Saturday June 18 as part of the Four Cylinder Fury program that will see the American Dirt Allstars sanctioned KDRA Super Stocks race for $1,200 to win and the Four Cylinder division race for $1,000 to win, plus a full racing program for the Late Models, Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds, and Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclones.  

Richmond Raceway will be closed on Saturday May 7, but will return with racing action on Saturday May 14 as the track will present the 2nd Annual Butch Shay Memorial event.  Late Models will race for $2,100 to win in a 30 lap main event and Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds will also race for $2,100 to win in a 30 lap main event.  Also on the Butch Shay Memorial racing program for Saturday May 14 will be the AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks racing for $750 to win, Stock Four Cylinders racing for $500 to win, and Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclones racing for $100 to win.  All divisions will utilize the hot lap/time trials combo format for this event to determine heat race starting positions and any Late Model driver that utilizes a Crate powered engine in their car is eligible for bonuses (top finisher get an extra $100, second highest finisher gets an extra $75, and third highest finisher gets an extra $50).  RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and transponders are used for timing and scoring purposes and can be rented at the track.  All drivers are encouraged to be at the track and signed in by 5:30 p.m. and that is when driver registration will close.
