Chilton, Watson, Coffman, Hounshell, Jr., and Harrison Top Performers at Richmond Raceway

Richmond, KY (May 2, 2015) It was Family Meal Deal/Kid’s Night at Richmond Raceway on Saturday evening and five weekly divisions were in competition, with Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY winning the Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Model main event.  Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY would be the Modified feature winner, while Todd Coffman of Parksville, KY would win the Revelution Race Cars Pro Late Model main event.  Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Mount Vernon, KY would be the victor in the KDRA Super Stock finale, with Stacy Harrison  of Keavy, KY the winner o the Four Cylinder feature event.

The start of the Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Model main event would see Aaron Hatton take the early lead, with Victor Lee and Michael Chilton giving chase, but action would be slowed for a caution for Lee Devasier on lap 2.  The restart would see Chilton take second from Lee and Chilton would proceed to snatch the lead away from Hatton on lap 4.  Lee would draw the next caution with a turn four spin on lap 6 while battling for second with Hatton.  The restart would see Chilton ease away from the pack, while Lee charged back through the field and would be challenging Buzz Williams for third when his mount slowed on lap 15.  The final few circuits would see Chilton again drive away from the field and score the win aboard his Caton Industrial Painting/Chilton’s Lawn and Maintenance/Parkview Home Center/Dial Painting/Genesis Shocks/Keyser Manufacturing sponsored #97 Revelution Race Car powered by a Bullock Race Engine.  Hatton would finish second, with Williams taking third.  Chris Ruble and Dennis Barton completed the top five.  Nine entries would see Hatton as top qualifier at 14.354 seconds and also win the heat.

The Modified feature would be a caution-plagued contest, but Jeff Watson would take the lead once action got going and would lead the entire distance to score his second straight feature event win in the division behind the wheel of his Shofner Enterprises/Brad Burton Dairy Farms sponsored #11 Tomahawk Race Car sporting a Frank Ofria Race Engine.  Wade Rookard would settle for runner-up honors, while Kenneth Harkins would complete the podium finishers with a third place effort.  Jim Robinson and Jared Reams would complete the top five.  The remainder of the top ten were Brent Estes, Virgil Parriman, Jimmy Crabtree, Mike Pratt, and Ricky Brandenburg.  Twenty entries would see Dennis Roberson as top qualifier at 16.345 seconds, with heat wins going to Watson, Rookard, and Robinson.

Chris Johnson would lead the first eight laps of the Revelution Race Cars Pro Late Model feature contest, but Todd Coffman would take the lead from Johnson on lap 9 and drive away for the win in the seat of the Sharon Coffman owned Auto Connection/Self Service Storage/Coffman Photography/Todd’s Body Shop/Heritage Closing/The Muffler Shop/Harrod Farms sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis, Hendren GM604 powered mount.  Johnson would finish in second position, while Zane Powell would claim third place honors.  Tommy Carlton and David Freeman would complete the top five finishers.  Eight entries would see Johnson as top qualifier at 15.523 seconds and also win the heat. 

Glen Hounshell, Jr. would be victorious in the KDRA Super Stock main event as the former track champion would lead all 15 laps of the contest to score the win in his Kentucky’s Best Transmissions/Nationwide Insurance/Jenning’s Do It Best/Jay’s Golf Carts/R&R Builders/Central Scrap/Red’s Tire and Auto sponsored #20 Chevy Monte Carlo.  Jeremy Howard would finish second, with Nathaniel Mullins, Jason Wright, and Johnny King rounding out the top five.  Completing the top ten were Glen Branham, Thomas Scenters, Darrell Cain, Allen Hackworth, Jr., and Martin Stacy.  Twelve entries would see Hounshell, Jr. as top qualifier at 17.189 seconds and win a heat, while Howard was also a heat winner.

The Four Cylinder feature event would see Stacy Harrison lead all 12 laps of the contest as she drove her Reelz Video and Tanning/Hillbilly’s Garage/Global Tanning sponsored #3 Dodge Neon to the victory.  Dave McCarty and Clifford Wagers would finish second and third, while fourth and fifth place finishes were recorded by Jesse Parker and Bill Taulbee.  Rounding out the top ten were Justin Johnson, Brian Thornsburg, Jamison Gipson, Brian Ferguson, and Derek Thornsburg.  Thirteen entries would see Harrison and Ferguson as heat winners.
